Making glycerin soap is relatively easy and does not require one to mess with lye. Here is a basic recipe.

Translucent Glycerin Soap
The ingredients and instructions are as follows: six ounces of tallow, sixteen ounces of coconut oil, two four-ounce bottles of castor oil, ten ounces of water, four ounces of lye, ten ounces of 80 proof vodka, and eight ounces of granulated sugar.

Take the oil, lye, fat, and water and follow basic soap making instructions.
Allow your soap to set for at least two days. Slice or grate the soap into small pieces. (Use gloves during this process because the lye might still be active.)
Melt the soap over low heat until it is simmering gently. As the soap melts, add the vodka and sugar. Mix together, gently, to avoid sudsing, or foaming, which can make the finished bars milky, or muddy looking, instead of clear. Continue to simmer for ten minutes to boil off the alcohol. There will be a layer that will form on the top but your melted soap should be clear underneath. Remove from the heat and skim the top coating off. (The skimmed stuff can be used to make soap balls.) And, now, pour your soap into individual molds and let them set until firm. TADA! You have your own homemade glycerin soap!
