Candle molds come in nearly any design one can think of. From the traditional pillar molds to molds that can produce candles molded for "adult" usage only.
One of the old time favorite candleholders is called a sugar mold candleholder. These candleholders can be found as real antiques or as antique reproductions. The real antique molds will most usually be made of wood or copper metal. The reproductions are made with a high quality polymer resin.
Making candles with molds can be exciting and fun. And there are several types of molds to choose from. Silicone molds are one of the most frequently used types of molds because they are easy to work with and easy to remove from the finished candle.
Say you are making an angel candle. You would get a candle mold that has the form of the type of angel you want. You gently pour the melted wax into the mold and let it completely cool and solidify. If you are using a silicone mold, you peel the silicone off the finished candle.
Candle molds are most often available for purchase at any wholesale candle supply store. Bulk quantity silicone powder to mix up to make your own molds is a great way to be very creative with out spending lots of money on pre-made candle molds.
Making candle molds is a fairly simple task, it just takes a little patience to learn. It's a bit messy, but lots of fun. And what you can make into a candle mold is only limited my your imagination. A grubby candle mold can affect the quality and fragrance of the candles you make, so be sure that your candle molds are cleaned after each use.
If you find that you prefer to purchase candle molds that are already made, then it is pretty easy to find candle mold manufactures that sell candle molds at wholesale costs.
Ear candles don't use the traditional candle molds, but are made by dipping cheese cloth or gauze into beeswax or paraffin, and quickly wrapping the wax soaked cloth around a 1/2" to 5/8" smooth dowel rod with one end of the dowel being tapered down to make it resemble one of those fat pencils used by children in kindergarten or first grade to make the end that fits into the ear canal.
Whatever your choices, making candles can be an enjoyable and rewarding experience. Whether you love the antique sugar mold for holding your candles, or design your own silicon molds for your candle making pleasure, then candle molds are a versatile addition to your candle making supplies. Making candles is fun!
