Gel Candles

Gel candles are candles that are composed of 95% mineral oil and 5% of a polymer resin that when mixed with the mineral oil turns into a more solid form that is a lot like Jell-O gelatin. There is a particular brand of gel on the market used to make gel candles, called Versagel, that seems to come highly recommended due to it's quality and consistency.

This brand comes in three different formulas, CLP, which is the lower density formula, CMP, the medium density formula, and CHP, which is, of course, the highest density formula. Each one is used to make gel candles of varying types. The low-density formula is the simplest to use and is for making lightly scented gel candles.

The medium density formula is a bit thicker and therefore can hold a stronger scent load, and the CHP being the thickest formula will hold a really heavy scent load. This is also the formula one would use if you planned to suspend objects such as marbles, glitter, semi-precious stones, etc. The thicker the gel the longer it takes for it to melt. This also makes it harder to pour.

Fruit scented gel candles are a rather popular style of gel candle because they come in the small jelly jars and actually look like homemade jelly. Some of the most popular scents are apple, orange, cherry, blueberry, and peach, but there are plenty of other fruity scents available on the market.

Gel candle kits and supplies for making your own gel candles are out there on the market therefore making it easy to design your own custom gel candles for your own use, or to give as gifts, or even to make up a custom selection for holidays and fund raisers.

As with all other candles available on the market, one can buy gel candles, and gel candle supplies wholesale. Taking this route will save time and money for those of you are in the business of crafting and selling gel candles, or doing it just for fun.

Gel candles burn hotter and longer than the traditional wax candles. So extra care must be taken to ensure that no nasty accidents happen while burning your gel candles. Keep them away from children, pets, and flammable materials.

Gel candles are easy to make and will provide many hours of enjoyment. The colors are clear and bright, the scents can range from light and subtle to strong and luscious. Your choices are almost limitless. Try a gel candle today. You may never go back to wax candles again!
